Who is Two Drunk Witches?

Read more about us here!

Where are you located?

We are based in Greater Victoria on Vancouver Island B.C. Many of our self-care spells are brewed from scratch with responsibly sourced natural and organic plant-based ingredients.

An important consideration when it comes to creating natural products is ensuring a stable shelf life. Any product containing water requires proper formulation to protect it from hazardous microbes. That is why we also choose to work with a laboratory on some of the unique products in our range, to ensure these products maintain their integrity and quality over an extended period of time.

Where can I purchase your products?

Our products are available here on our website, or through our many wonderful stockists!

Did you know we can arrange pick-up or drop-off within the Greater Victoria area? Select "Local Pick-up" at the check-out to waive shipping fees and arrange to pick your items up from 1247 Burnside Road West.

We typically send a notification when orders are ready for pick, but please do not hesitate to reach out directly by telephone or text message at 250 213-9762 to let us know when you'd like to come by.

Why choose natural products?

Your skin is your body’s largest organ and is said to absorb roughly 60 percent of everything you apply to it. Now, consider the skincare industry is highly unregulated, meaning that the vast majority of conventional beauty products contain toxic and synthetic chemicals. These chemicals are absorbed through your skin and slowly build up in your system. As these chemicals, which are known as endocrine disruptors, accumulate in your body, they begin to interfere with your body’s endocrine system, which is responsible for producing and regulating hormones. Endocrine disruptors are said to negatively impact the body’s developmental, reproductive, neurological and immune response functions, resulting in a wide range of health issues.

You can read more about endocrine disruptors by visiting https://draxe.com/endocrine-disruptors-how-to-avoid-excess-estrogen/. You can also visit the David Suzuki Foundation’s website to learn more about the top dozen skincare products to avoid.

If you’re curious about the chemicals contained in your conventional self-care products, you may also want to check out EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database - though do be warned, you may find the results disturbing.

Choosing natural and organic products helps minimize your exposure to toxic and synthetic chemicals. Just as we choose to nourish our bodies with vibrant, wholesome foods, we can make the same choice when it comes to nourishing our skin. Because natural skincare products are generally produced in small batches with thoughtfully chosen ingredients, there’s a much higher level of care and responsibility that goes into creating these products.

One of the major benefits of plant-based ingredients is that they offer a much more holistic approach to wellness. For example, think about how Western medicine is typically engineered to target one specific complaint, such as a pill to reduce the symptoms of acid reflux or a cream to treat a fungal infection.

Plant medicine, on the other hand, works on an astonishing number of levels in a much more integrated fashion. Lavender, for instance, is best-known for its ability to induce calmness and promote sleep. However, lavender is also anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, astringent (tightens tissues) and carminative (soothes gastric upset). Unlike conventional skincare products where ingredients are isolated to serve a specific function, plant-based skincare offers a multi-dimensional approach. The frankincense essential oil in our Sacred Serum, for example, works not only to regenerate skin cells, but boost circulation and, with its unique scent, is deeply calming.

It’s no wonder plant medicine has thrived for centuries as a reliable means to wellness. Not only that, but natural, plant-based ingredients are kinder to the environment than their synthetic, petroleum-based counterparts. Plus there’s something truly special about choosing products that connect us with nature and honour the incredible power of plants to support self-care.

Because natural and organic products don’t contain harsh chemicals, dyes, fragrances and fillers, many people also agree that they work better. Whereas conventional products frequently exacerbate conditions, natural products are generally non-allergenic and replenish the skin’s balance.

I have sensitive skin and am concerned I may react to a product. What do you recommend?

One of the key benefits of replacing your self-care products with cleaner alternatives is that you’re much less likely to react to the ingredients contained in those products. That being said, some people may be sensitive to certain ingredients without even realizing it. We recommend first checking the ingredients list to identify anything you may historically have had a reaction to. From there, we always recommend doing a skin patch test any time you’re introducing a new product to your routine. Skin patch tests help you to better understand your body’s unique reaction to certain products and ingredients and ensure you’re choosing formulas best-suited to your constitution.

To do a skin patch test, first wash the sensitive areas where you will be applying the product with a mild cleanser, then apply a small amount of product to those spots – we suggest your inner wrist, side of your neck, inner elbow, backs of your knees and behind your ears. It’s a good idea to cover the product with a bandage to ensure it stays put.

Now the important part: provided you’re not having an immediate reaction, be sure to leave the product on your skin for a minimum of 12 hours, ideally 24. If, after that amount of time, your skin shows no sign of a reaction, you’re likely okay to safely make the product a regular part of your routine, keeping in mind that some sensitives can occur over time, although this is far less common with natural formulations.

Also, if you’re ever curious about a product but concerned about whether your skin will respond to it, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly to arrange a sample size!

Where do you source your ingredients?

We work with suppliers in the Lower Mainland and across Canada, as well as in the United States, to source the highest quality ingredients possible.

Some ingredients, like the usnea in our Boo-Boo-Begone Skin Healing Salve, are wildcrafted ourselves here on Vancouver Island, while others are purchased directly through local retailers.

Are your products vegan?

We are pleased to offer several vegan-friendly products, including:

Are your products safe to use if pregnant or nursing?

Although we make sure to choose as safe and natural ingredients as possible for our products, we always advise you to do your own research and use caution if pregnant, nursing or trying to conceive.

Likewise, we recommend that those who are sensitive or prone to reactions test a small patch of skin prior to use, and discontinue use if a reaction occurs.
